The beginning of April saw the official launch of the FFG (Austrian Research Promotion Agency) project, AquaNOSE, which took place on the kdg campus in Elbigenalp.
This is the largest R&D project in kdg’s entire history to date, and its goals are more than a little lofty: the aim of the four project and research partners — kdg, the University of Vienna Institute for Physical Chemistry, Profactor (a research company specialising in additive micro and nano manufacturing and industrial assistance systems), and the Finnish biotechnology company BioMensio
They were clamouring to see them: the new asymmetrical RMJ wall downlights from Bartenbach that are flush-mounted in the ceiling. Some must have been secretly wishing they were the ones with a product like Unico — a light system that clearly lives up to its name.
The biennial trade show of the lighting industry is done and dusted for another two years, and all of the noble promises that many a project team will have made themselves during the six-day event, like “next time we’ll do it all differently and we’ll start a lot earlier” will probably have been packed away by now and stored in the recesses of the collective mind.
Since the beginning of February, Lukas Scharf has been managing the business operations of kdg opticomp alongside owner, Michael Hosp.
He juggles components just as elegantly and adeptly as he handles quotations and flow charts. And he particularly loves to banter with his conterparts, always responding with a lightning-fast retort and a slightly mischievous smile on his face.
We sadly mourn the passing of our co-founder, source of inspiration, partner and friend, Henrik Wentzler, who departed this world tow days before Christmas.
Even to the end, you were in a hurry and had so many plans. We treasure the fact that we have known you and that you have supported and accompanied us with tremendous energy and reassurance along an important stretch of each of our paths. For that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Rest assured that we will continue your mission with dedication.
